Pictures: Cary Band Day 2010
Story and pictures by Hal Goodtree
Cary, NC – The sun was shining and the excitement was high on Saturday for the 52nd Annual Cary Band Day.
The big parade chugged down East Chatham and turned left on Academy, past the Old Elementary school and across to Walnut.
There were floats, antique cars, boy scouts, fire engines and, yes, marching bands from around the state.
I ran into my friend Scott and his family across from The First Baptist Church. A band marched by doing a Michael Jackson tribute. The color guard was dressed as the undead.
“Way to go zombies!” shouted Lynn, Scott’s better half.
“Don’t get to use that every day,” I observed to Scott.
The marching bands had their game faces on, but everyone else had big smiles. It was a grand parade and a great day to be in Cary.
