Samaritan’s Corner: The Embrace of Escape

Cary, NC – Welcome to Samaritan’s Corner. Let’s Talk!

Psalms 139:13-18 – “You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother’s womb. Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous, how well I know it. You watched me as I was being formed in utter seclusion, as I was woven together in the dark of the womb. You saw me before I was born. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed. How precious are your thoughts about me, O God. They cannot be numbered! I can’t even count them, they outnumber the grains of sand! And when I wake up, you are still with me!”

I absolutely love this beautiful scripture because it describes just how personal God is. It describes, in detail, just how into us He really is. Before a child can ever have a relationship with another human being, God establishes His relationship with that child. God’s heart for children is so personal that He gives that child the first of His very best.

I could go on and on about His love for children, but instead I’m going to switch gears and talk about the teachers at Davis Drive Elementary, that He has assigned to be His own personal hands. Just when I think I’m getting to the end of my time of driving a YMCA bus, the Lord allows me to witness something that makes me love driving that old number 66 all over again.

Samaritan’s Corner: A Duran Duran Song

Cary, NC – Ecclesiastes 1:18 – “The greater my wisdom, the greater my grief. To increase knowledge only increases sorrow.”  The truth of this scripture acts as a hand that has snatched me out of a dream, by way of my nightmares. Literally.

Need a little more clarity to really understanding what I’m saying? Acts 2:17 – “Your young men will see visions, and your old men will dream dreams.” My body and mind seem to share in both the young man having visions, and the old man dreaming dreams. Being 50 doesn’t make me old, and it doesn’t make me young. It’s the reality of life that causes me to feel the impact of the years gone by.

Samaritan’s Corner: When It Was Her Turn

Cary, NC – Welcome To Samaritan’s Corner. Let’s Talk!

Matthew 27:5 – “Then Judas threw the silver coins down in the Temple and went and hanged himself.” Judas Iscariot was one of the twelve disciples. As he traveled with Jesus, he witnessed miracle after miracle. Sight given to the blind, the dead raised to life and even diseased dead skin restored back to skin like that of a new born baby. But let us not forget about the greatest miracle of them all that Judas Iscariot witnessed, and that’s the miracle of forgiveness. It’s one of the hardest things for a hurt human heart to do. Some people would prefer to live out a life sentence and be imprisoned by their own unforgiveness than to forgive and be free.

Samaritan’s Corner: The Easel of Jesus

Cary, NC – Welcome To Samaritan’s Corner. Let’s Talk!

“If I had to paint a picture to show the world how true love can really be, I would use the brightest colors to create a vision of harmony.”

These are the opening lyrics to the song “What Is The Color Of Love” by Billy Ocean. He was big time back in the 1980s and early 1990s. I was on a long bike ride last week and this song came to mind. Read more

Isaiah 54:4 – “Do not be afraid, you will not be put to shame. Do not fear disgrace, you will not be humiliated. You will forget the shame of your youth.”

I’ve been writing for a very long time. I’ve written two novels and have started on a third one, I write for CaryCitizen and I write devotions to encourage people on my Facebook page. But there is nothing I’ve ever written that has given me the freedom that this article gives me. Read more

Samaritan’s Corner: 19 To Life

Cary, NC – Welcome To Samaritan’s Corner. Let’s Talk!

Acts 20:24 – “But my life is worth nothing to me unless I use it for finishing the work assigned me by the Lord Jesus. The work of telling others the Good News about the wonderful grace of God.” These are the words of the Apostle Paul that he spoke when he met with the Ephisian Elders. Paul was an all-out warrior for Christ and answering the call to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ, in his mind, was worth dying for. In verse 22, Paul said, “I am bound by the Holy Spirit to go to Jerusalem. I don’t know what awaits me, except that the Holy Spirit tells me in city after city that jail and suffering lie ahead.” Read more

Samaritan’s Corner: Dr. King! No More Dreams

Cary, NC – Welcome To Samaritan’s Corner. Let’s Talk!

“I have a dream that one day little black boys and girls, will be holding hands with little white boys and girls.” On Wednesday, August 28 1963, standing on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. gave his “I have a dream” speach. In that speech is when he spoke about black and white children holding hands. Well Dr. King, it is my honor, privilege and blessing handed straight down from heaven to be able to say to you that they’ve gone from holding hands to putting their arms around each other! Hallelujah!! Read more

Samaritan’s Corner: Concussion At The Cross

Cary, NC – Welcome to Samaritan’s Corner. Let’s Talk!

Hebrews 12:1 – “Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the ‘JOY’ that was set before Him endured the cross.”

And that my friends is exactly where I’m starting this article from. At the foot of the cross where I found this warrior soul coming out of a seasonal walk with Jesus that I just had to write about! Hallelujah!

Samaritan’s Corner: He Is His Black History

Cary, NC – Welcome to Samaritan’s Corner. Let’s Talk!

So it’s Black History Month. It’s a month that’s celebrated by some and despised by others. Some have a great appreciation for it, and some find it insulting. For me personally, you can’t sum up my black history in 28 days, and you certainly can’t expect me to shout in celebration because we take one month out of twelve to acknowledge the black contribution to this America of which I absolutely love.
