Moonlight Sculpture Tour – Friday in Cary
Cary, NC — What better way to spend the night before Halloween than by taking a moonlight walking tour around the 10 sculptures in Downtown Cary?
Moonlight Sculpture Tour
Cary Visual Art (CVA) is hosting a Moonlight Sculpture Tour on Friday, October 30, 2015 in Downtown Cary during the other Final Friday festivities.
If you’ve never seen the sculptures, this is a great opportunity to do so. If you’re already familiar with them, you’ll get to see how different they look in the dark. All the sculptures are part of CVA’s annual Outdoor Sculpture Exhibition (OSE), a juried show that brings artists from across the nation together once a year to install their pieces throughout Downtown Cary.
This weekend, CVA volunteers and staff will lead groups on moonlight walking tours through the maze of downtown art. The 10 sculptures that make up this year’s OSE are incredibly distinct, and you won’t have to walk far to see a giraffe on wheels, a Greek Archaic female, a tall, spiky piece that makes music when the wind blows, a detailed sphere and more. You’ll even learn about the other art in Downtown Cary, and about the town’s history, along the way.
Other Information
Guided tours of the exhibition will start at dusk, around 6 pm, and continue until 8 pm as others show up. Tour guides will walk you around Town Hall and Fidelity Bank before you stop off for a treat. Eventually, you’ll end up at the Cary Arts Center for even more surprises.
At the event, you can enter for a chance to win gift certificates from local downtown businesses and to receive bags stuffed with coupons and other treats. The event is free and open to the public. You’ll be walking for at least 30 minutes, so wear comfy shoes.
