At Design a Career You’ll Love, a 6:30 pm workshop at West Regional Library, you’ll learn sustainable techniques to design a career with your purpose in mind and then learn the ways in which you can work toward obtaining a career that you want.
Kevin Spencer, a teacher known for traveling around the world and working with individuals with disabilities, will host a Q&A session at The Cary Theater following a showing of his documentary, Powerful Medicine Simply Magic. The film presentation is geared toward parents, care providers, advocates, agencies and organizations that serve individuals with disabilities.

At 7 pm, the Cary Ballet Company and The 3D Project will kick-off their first production of A Very Cary Christmas at the Cary Arts Center. You’ll see a magical Nutcracker story and a holiday production with seasonal music to prepare you for the holidays! Tickets are $18.

Starting at 10 am, Renaissance Montessori School of Cary hosts their annual Parent-Child Holiday Crafting Workshop on Saturday. Parents and their children will make three crafts that can be easily duplicated at home for handmade holiday gifts Then, children stay for lunch and playtime while parents finish last-minute holiday errands.
Make your holiday season complete with International Ballet Company’s presentation of the beloved ballet “The Nutcracker.” Children and adults of all ages will be mesmerized as Clara helps her Nutcracker Prince defeat the Rat Queen and travels to the enchanted Land of Sweets. The show starts at 2 pm at Cary Academy. Tickets are $12-$15.
The Cary Invasion will take on Auburn in the Herb Young Community Center at 7 pm on Saturday evening. Gate and concessions open at 6 pm.
Kids can enjoy a special one-hour Mini Very Cary Christmas (it’s the Nutcracker story ballet in a shorter format) at the Cary Arts Center at 10 am. Tickets are $8.
Then, Rally Point will have an Ugly Christmas Sweater Party with food and drinks, music from DJ George and prizes for winners of the ugly sweater contest.

Across the Triangle
Check out this unique event at Meymandi Concert Hall in Raleigh – the Cirque Musica Holiday Spectacular with the NC Symphony. The new show features favorite holiday music with spell-binding grace and gravity-defying feats from today’s greatest circus performers all on one stage. Tickets range from $33-$85. Shows are at 8 pm on Friday and Saturday evenings.
This weekend is Third Friday in Downtown Durham. Come out on Friday from 6-9 pm to walk around and see local musicians, art galleries and more.
Take a Horse-Drawn Carriage Ride on Sunday, December 20, 2015 in Chapel Hill. Tours leave from The Carolina Inn main entrance from noon-4 pm, and rides are $10 per person. Seating is limited, and reservations are required.
