The Methodist Children’s Center of Cary is holding its annual Scholastic Book Fair today from 8:45-9:45 am and then from 12:00-1:30 pm in the Templeton Building (121 Waldo Street in Cary). Buy great books or bring used books to donate.

Wine Nights at Academy Street Bistro repeat every month, and there’s one this Thursday evening at 6 pm. For $30 a person, you’ll enjoy sipping French wines and learn more about them. Chef Brian Fitzgerald will be pairing some terrific hors d’oeuvres with the wines. Limited seating is still available, so call 919-377-0509 go make reservations.

Or, from 6:30-8:30 pm at West Regional Library, take a class all about e-Commerce. You’ll learn and discuss setup and operational considerations such as how to list products, sales tax, managing inventory and reporting at this free event.

There’s a lot going on in Cary tonight, including the downtown Cary art walk! Check out our Guide to Final Friday for a list of arts events including a free wine tasting, music-inspired contemporary art, a sculpture tour and more.

Other choices include an Oyster Roast at Fortnight Brewery from 5 pm-11 pm. This party celebrates the brewery’s two-year anniversary with seafood plates (fish or shrimp baskets $8 and oysters $10), live music, cupcakes, giveaways and beer. This celebration is weekend-long, so come back again on Saturday from 12 pm-11 pm.


The Cary Youth Theatre will present Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing starting tonight through Sunday at the Cary Arts Center. Find tickets and all showtimes showtimes on etix. Tickets for this family friendly show are only $5-$10.

Six Strings will present a Johnny Cash & Patsy Cline tribute show at The Cary Theater at 8 pm tonight. Tickets start at $20.

Catch a soccer game at the WakeMed Soccer Park on Saturday at 11 am when the Carolina RailHawks take on UNC-Wilmington. You can buy tickets for this event on the Carolina RailHawks website.

Then, enjoy a free 30-minute yoga class offered by Cary Flow Yoga in Cary. This event, entitled Yoga for Runners, will be followed by running mechanics and injury assessments by Prue Physical Therapy & Sports Performance.

Then, at 7 pm, our Cary Invasion basketball team will take on Charlotte at home in the Herb Young Community Center.

CineBistro, a new gourmet movie theater and restaurant in Waverly Place, is hosting an Oscars Viewing Party at 6 pm with food, drinks and comfy seating for this big television event. Tickets are $50 a person and can be found online.

Oscars aren’t your thing? The Landmark FWB Church in Cary on Chapel Hill Road is having a public showing of the movie War Room on Sunday at 6 pm. This event is free, and childcare will be provided for children five years and under.

Across the Triangle

You can catch Disney’s The Lion King at DPAC starting this week and continuing into March. The Lion King is known for its stunning visuals and one of the most imaginative creative teams on Broadway. Find tickets and showtimes online.

The American Legion in Chapel Hill is hosting their 9th Annual Marathon Jam, a national day of service by musicians to benefit the Fort Bragg Fisher House.  The jam is Saturday, February 27 from 1 pm-1 am and will feature 12 hours of non-stop music played by some of the best musicians in North Carolina. Musicians are individually sponsored to play the full twelve hours. Last year, over $12,000 was raised in Chapel Hill for service member families at Fisher House.
