Pictures: Herbfest 2011

Story and pictures by Hal Goodtree.

Cary, NC – Just a few pictures from Herbfest in case you couldn’t make it or just wanted to relive the glory.

2nd Annual Herbfest

This year’s Herbfest, presented by the Friends of Page Walker, was the second annual celebration of gardening, culinary plants and outdoor living.

There were crafts and food, garden tours and plein air painting for kids. I had a chance to chat with Kay Struffolino, Cary’s Hometown Spirit Award Winner, Ed Yerha and Brent Miller of the Friends, Peggy Von Scoyoc, CaryCitizen’s historian emeritus and our good friend Derek from the Meathouse. Derek was distributing grilled chicken the size of a lunch.

I saw people selling ceramics, our pals from Garden Supply, Paige Williams from Great Harvest Bread Company and lots of other interesting things.

This year’s Herbfest also featured street theater by Burning Coal Theatre Company and a cooking demonstration by chef Lucindy Willis.

If you missed Herbfest this year, put it on your radar for 2012.

Thanks, Hal, for some really outstanding pictures! Herbfest was bigger and better this year and we can’t wait for the third annual Herbfest next year. Great weather, outstanding vendors, the Page Educational Gardens in full splendor, good food, butterfly releases and so much more!

Thanks to the volunteers from the Friends of the Page-Walker and to the Town of Cary and their world-class staff who supported this event.

Don’t miss the Friends of the Page-Walker upcoming events: “An Icon Transformed” and “What Have We Got to Lose?” programs. See http://www.friendsofpagewalker.org/concerts_and_programs for details.
