Packages for Afghanistan

Cary, NC – To honor Memorial Day and the service of men and women in uniform, Cary Academy recently conducted a care package drive for soldiers in Afghanistan.

Toye Eskridge, a spokesperson for Cary Academy told us, “The goal was to have our students pay honor to the more than 525,000 U.S. servicemen and women serving in direct combat overseas. “

The drive was spearheaded by Keaton Friedman (‘12) and Joe Calder (‘12). They managed to collect more than 1,500 batteries, 17,000 baby wipes, 100 letters from students, and many other items.

On May 18, students and parents packed more than 40 flat-rate boxes with these supplies. Care packages will be sent to more than 45 members of the 10^th Mountain Division serving in Afghanistan.

The boxes will be sent to the soldiers before Memorial Day.
