Downed Power Lines Close Chapel Hill Road at NW Maynard

Cary, NC – Downed power lines closed Chapel Hill Road where it crosses NW Maynard for much of the day on Monday.

The incident started around 6:30 AM. A request for information on the cause of the downed lines had not been returned as of publication.

At midday, crews were attaching lines to a new wooden pole at the western corner of the intersection. Next to the new pole, an older pole stood with it’s top snapped off.

Crews stretched lines across Chapel Hill Road opposite from Lowe’s Home Improvement. East-West traffic on Chapel Hill Road was detoured as was southbound traffic on Maynard. Cary Police were on the scene directing traffic.

Crews were expected to complete repairs by early evening.
