Cary, NC – With Spring finally here, Cary is in full running race mode! This weekend marks the second annual Miles For Matt 5 K run at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary. The race is now the second event in a series of three events in memory of Matt Cossa which benefits Duke Cancer research Institute.

Last year the Bats For Matt baseball event organizers were looking for a way to increase their reach and awareness. Bill Cossa’s son, Matt, for whom these events are named was a student athlete, and as such had friends who played all sorts of sports, not just baseball. The race is a way to involve more community members in a fun event out at the soccer park on a lovely day.

Registration

Registration is live on FS Series, but at press time T shirts are no longer guaranteed (that ended 2/25). The event already has nearly 300 runners registered. Online registration is closed, but you might be able to register at the race itself before start time.

We are told everyone will receive breakfast at  the finish. The race will take place at Wake Med Soccer Park at 201 Soccer Park Dr. Cary, NC 27511. The run course will feature smooth running surface with grass and gravel. A water station will be at the 1.5 mile mark.

The proceeds from the race will benefit the Duke Cancer Institute in Lymphoma and other blood cancers research. There are awards for the top three finishers in many age categories.
