Cary, NC- 60 events this weekend in Cary and most of them are free. We’re talking hot dogs, caterpillars, art, theater, a coupon swap, an auction, puppets, baseball, vintage cars and more than 50 other things. All this weekend in Cary on the Calendar of Events.

Spring Fling at Hope Chapel

Spring Fling is this Saturday, March 24, from 12-5 at Hope Chapel in Cary. Everything is free, no advance registration, just good family fun.

Organizers expect between 800 and a 1,000 attendees to enjoy hotdogs, cotton candy, fish tacos, rides, games and even an egg hunt. The free event is made possible through donations and sponsors from the community. This will be the church’s 18th annual community event. Spring Fling starts at noon and ends at 5pm. No advance registration is required.

Hope Chapel is located at 6175 Old Jenks Road.

Thursday March 22

9:00 am – Senior Health Fair- and Vision Van Screenings – in the Senior Center parking lot. Free vision testing, health consultations, and door prizes!

9:30 am – Coupon Swap!- at McDonalds on Walnut Street.

5.30 PM – The Heart of Cary Association’s first “What’s Up? Downtown!” of the year. HAVANA GRILL (404 W. Chatham Street, next to Frantz Auto). Great-tasting authentic Cuban food, cash bar and karaoke. Mingle with Downtown stake-holders and decision-makers and learn what all the ‘buzz’ in Downtown is about. All HoCA members, friends and supporters are invited. See you there!

Friday March 23

7:00 pm – Cary Ballet performs their Spring Gala- the first of three shows at the Cary Arts Center Downtown

7:00 pm – Meet local children’s author Ursula Vernon. She will discuss her new book Dragonbreath, Revenge of the Horned Bunnies at Barnes & Noble near Cary Towne Center

8:00 pm – Opening Night of FATE’s “Rough Crossing”  by Tom Stoppard.

Saturday, March 24

Wheels on Academy – the first ever Cary Car Show all day beginning at 9 am. Academy Street will be closed to traffic.

10:00 am – Puppet Palooza at Eva Perry Library- learn how to make and use puppets in this drop in clinic for kids. Puppet shows throughout

1:00 pm – USA Baseball Spring Training Clinic for youth ages 6-12. The clinic will focus on the basics of the game. Instructors will include USA Baseball coaches and staff.

2:00 pm and again at 7:00 pm – Cary Ballet Spring Gala final two performances at Cary Arts Center

6:00 pm – St. Michael School Auction & Gala- benefits their PTA- Evening includes the Wall of Wine, Silent & Live Auctions, Buffet Dinner & Dancing. There are incredible auction items – bidding at the auction or through absentee bidding.

8:00 pm – FATE presents Rough Crossing by Tom Stoppard.

Sunday March 25

3:00 pm Rapunzel- a touring company from Charlotte’s Children’s  Theater company performs this children’s classic at the Cary Arts Center. Part of the marvelous Music Series.
