Events: National Night Out
Cary, NC – More events and festivals are moving downtown. The latest, National Night Out, will take place Tuesday, August 7 and moves from Cary Towne Center.
In yet another move to bring night-time excitement to the streets of Downtown Cary, the Town of Cary and its Police Department have decided to host National Night Out in the downtown area, centered around the corner of Walnut and Kildaire Farm Roads near the Cary Arts Center.
For years this event took place at the Cary Towne Center Mall, which didn’ t really get folks “outside” which truly was the whole point of the event.
This Nation-wide event is traditionally held on the first Tuesday in August. Cary’s event begins at 5pm and runs through 8pm. The intent is to bring neighborhoods and community together and to promote community and police partnerships.
The national website for the program includes contests, maps, help with creating safe neighborhood online networks and photo galleries from around the world taken at previous National Night Outs.
What To Expect
Expect to have fun! Kids can explore safety vehicles of Today and Yesterday, see K9 demonstrations and enjoy a Fun Zone. Adults can try on the Beer Goggles (experience altered perceptions of being drunk) and try the crash simulator .
Town of Cary Police and Fire personnel will be on-hand with information on Town safety initiatives and to register citizens for free home safety inspections.
For Your Neighborhood
The police department has also offered to come out to neighborhoods that night for folks who can’t come downtown.
Contact (919) 469-4324 if you are interested in having an officer come to your Cary neighborhood that night.
