Business Productivity: Genius Scan

Cary, NC – My iPhone is known as my “Magic Phone” by one of my friends. Now I have found a new app that steps up the magic for my business: a hand-held document scanner.

Genius Scan

Genius Scan was discovered by accident when Jimmy Orban, our talented and innovative Manager of Media Services, received a signed contract back from a client. The client had printed out our contract and signed it.

Then she used Genius Scan to take a full scan of the signed document using the app and the wonderful camera equipped on the iPhone 4. Try taking a regular photo of a document and you will realize the improvements that a scanner allows. The scan captures the entire 8-1/2 x 11 paper – and it looks like a flat, clean document.

The Genius Scan scanner technology includes smart page detection, perspective correction, image post-processing. It allows you to build PDF documents with multiple scans. – from Grizzly Labs

The client was then able to directly email the signed scanned document directly from the Genius App. I then filed the contract on my laptop under the clients name – no paper!

Productivity

We have decided that this app (available for free) will greatly reduce the hurdles of not having triplicate copies of a contract in our binders. We now can create a contract during an appointment, have the client sign it, we scan it, and they can keep the original. We can electronically file the scanned document.

Genius Scan is also good for business cards and receipts.

Now if we could have everything filed automatically – that would be another productivity hurdle accomplished!
