Cary, NC – Do you have old prescriptions lying around your medicine cabinet or over the counter medicines that are expired, but you don’t know what to do with them? Have no fear: Operation Medicine Drop is coming next  Saturday to a Cary location near you.

Unwanted & Expired Medicines

Drop these unwanted and potentially dangerous items at the Town of Cary’s biannual Operation Medicine Drop, September 29 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

Citizens may drop off items at five locations throughout Cary where Law Enforcement officers will properly dispose of medications in a safe and secure way, plus answer poison control questions.

The event is held as part of the national take back initiative to coincide with “Wake Up to Medicine Abuse” week September 23-29, sponsored by the Partnership at Drugfree.org.

“Each day, 2,000 kids abuse a prescription medicine for the first time, and two-thirds of them got the drug from a friend or family member,” said Lt. Steve Fonke. “Take stock of drugs in your home, from the medicine cabinet to the top of your dresser, and take advantage of the chance to properly dispose of unnecessary medications to keep them out of the hands of potential abusers.”
