Weekend in Cary: Fall Charms

Cary, NC – This fall weekend has many charms to offer including a performance of Sleeping Beauty by the Birmingham Children’s Theater, the Triangle Wind Ensemble’s Fall Concert and the 4th Annual Lochmere Arts & Crafts Festival. All this and more on the Calendar.

Friday, 11/09/12 – Triangle Wind Ensemble

Triangle Wind Ensemble’s Fall Concert includes a suite from Leonard Bernstein’s “Mass,” written for the inauguration of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts

The Ensemble’s fifty wind and percussion players comprise a concert “band” that achieves a performance level on par with many professional ensembles.

Saturday, 11/10/12 – Lochmere Arts & Crafts Show

The 4th Annual Lochmere Arts & Crafts Show will be held at the corner of Kildaire Farms Rd. and Lochmere Dr. in the parking lot of the Pavilion Shopping center on Nov. 10th, 9:00am-3:00pm. (rain date is Nov. 11th) Local artists will be displaying pottery, painted rocks, stained glass, jewelry, photography, children’s clothiers and much more.

Also Saturday, St. Michael’s on High House is having their Holiday Craft Fair, 9 AM – 3 PM.

Visit both fairs and finish your holiday shopping this very weekend. Then kick back, congratulate yourself and have a glass of wine.

Saturday, 11/10/12 – Sleeping Beauty

One of the nation’s oldest and largest professional theater companies for young audiences, Birmingham Children’s Theatre produces high-quality, professional theatrical entertainment and curriculum-relevant arts education experiences for children and families. BCT is the second largest employer of professional theater artists in Alabama, and is Alabama’s only professional touring theater company.

BCT wil perform Sleeping Beauty for just one show only in Cary, Saturday 11/1o/12 at Cary Arts Center, 3 PM.

Sunday, 11/11/12 – Bill Leslie

Two musical events to highlight on Sunday: Triangle Youth String Orchestra at Cary Arts from 3-4 (free) and Bill Leslie at Page-Walker from 4-6.

Bill Leslie is a new age singer-songwriter who performs traditional as well as Celtic fusion music. He is also well-known as is the morning and noon news- anchor for WRAL-TV. Tickets for the Bill Leslie show, presented by Frinds of Page-Walker, are $15.
