Cary, NC – Are you the dozen red roses type valentine, or more a box of chocolates? Whether you are giving or receiving, we have some local ideas on celebrating your love, Cary-Style.
We have organized some fun ideas for you to check out from date night ideas, to something to do with your children. Have a sweet Valentine’s Day!
Valentine’s Week – Date Night Ideas
Valentine’s Day falls on a Thursday this year, so many people will be celebrating on the weekend before or after February 14th. Here are some ideas Date Night Ideas for Valentine’s week.
Chatham Hill, our local winery, is hosting several date nights. Start tour celebrating this Friday February 8th with Valentine’s unWine-d Friday. The band called “20 Years Gone” provides some music while you visit John John’s Hot & Spicy Mama Dukes popular food trucks. Action starts in the winery at 7:30pm. Cost $5.00 per person. Saturday and Sunday Feb 9 and 10, the Winery hosts Chocolate & Wine, a delightful Valentine’s pairing of chocolate and wine for you and yours. Included in your tasting fee of $10/pp. Barrel & Chocolate Sample Pairings are served at Saturday @ 3:00, Sunday @ 2:00.
All weekend, The Miracle Worker is playing at the Cary Arts Center in Downtown. Let the Cary Players work a date night miracle for you! The play opened last weekend and continues in its second weekend both Friday and Saturday evenings at 7:30 and Sunday afternoon at 2pm. Tickets can be purchased online or by visiting the Arts Center. Midweek: Whole Foods Market Cary is hosting their “For the Love of Wine” Event on February 12th. Featuring 30+ wines to sample, live music, and inspiring menu ideas throughout each department. The first 150 guests receive a free wine glass! 4 pm-7 pm.
Friday, February 15, A Fifth of Blues will be at RallyPoint Sports Grill in Cary. Blues, Soul and R&B classics you can dance to. 8 PM, no cover.

Children’s Activities
Valentines can be lots of fun for the whole family if you check out some of the activities below:
At The Cary Creative Center on Friday Feb 8 and Saturday Feb 9, You and your children can drop in to create lovely valentine’s cards from up-cycled items. Let your creative juices flow! The drop in class runs from 10:30- 3:30pm. Families can craft for $6 individuals for $3. The fun continues during the week on Wednesday and Thursday the 14th.
Havana Grill Karaoke Night on Friday is fun for the entire family. Have a fun night singing along to your favorites while enjoying wonderful Cuban fare.
Daddy-Daughter Dance at the Cary Senior Center Friday, February 8, 6pm – 9pm, for children aged 4-12. Let your daughter’s first dance be a memorable one at this popular annual event. Music, dancing, and light refreshments will be served. To help your memories from this night last, each couple will receive one 5×7 photo. .Note: this event may be sold out, and requires pre-registration through Town of Cary Parks Dept.
Clowning Around for the Cure-Saturday Feb 9, 10am- 2pm. Organized by the Cary Teen Council, this activity for the kids takes place at the Herb Young Community Center (HYCC). Join Zoë the Clown, Dan the Happy Magic Man, and all their entertainer friends for fun and excitement. The HYCC gym will be transformed into a fantastic playground full of slides, inflatables, and games. Receive a balloon sculpture or get your face painted. All proceeds benefit pediatric cancer research. $4 suggested donation/ per person at the door.
Valentine’s Story Time at Barnes & Noble- Sat Feb 9, 11 am- noon. “The Perfect Hug” book will be read and followed by an activity and refreshments. Contact: Linda Maloof at 919-467-1583 for more info.
Teen Anti-Valentine’s Day Party, Thursday Feb 14, 7-8 pm at the Eva Perry Library. (Grades 6-10) You don’t have to be part of a couple to celebrate this day. Dine In: The Matthews House has come up with the “Nighty Night In” package – a take-home oven ready meal for busy couples who want a quiet night at home with a romantic gourmet meal. For $100, the meal is complete with rolls, salad, an appetizer, main course and sides, dessert and a dozen roses. For $25 more, people can enjoy a bottle of The Matthews House champagne. This meal gives diners all the deliciousness of a five-star restaurant meal without any of the hassle.
Taziki’s Mediterranean Cafe, newly opening in Waverly Place, has a “Valentine Date Night Special” featuring – share an appetizer, 2 entrees, bottle of Vista Point Chardonnay or Cabernet and share a dessert all for 39.99. This special actually runs for the first two weeks of February, ending Feb 17.

After Dinner- Something Sweet
Menchie’s – will be running a BOGO special on Valentine’s Day. Their feature flavor this month is Red Velvet.
Fresca: – “Valentine’s at Fresca” runs from 6 – 9 pm. This wine and dessert special includes two glasses of wine and dessert plate from NamaKiss for $14.99.
