Booth Amphitheatre Schedule Takes Shape

Cary, NC- It’s April and the pollen is falling, so it must be the start of concert season! Booth Amphitheatre in Cary recently announced their early season line-up and there’s something for everyone.
The Great Grapes Festival kicks things off next weekend on April 20. Gates open at 11am and continues til 7pm. This premier wine tasting event features over 220 wines from over 24 wineries, live music all day as well as food and crafts for sale. $25 advance or $30 day of show includes a souvenir wine glass, unlimited samples, all performances and cooking demonstrations. Designated Driver Ticket: $20 advance and day of show and includes admission into the event ONLY. There is a VIP package for $35/$40 which includes a souvenir glass and other perks.
Sound of Music Sing-A-Long April 26-Gates open at 6pm and the show goes on at dusk (around 8). Sing-a-Long-a Sound of Music is a screening of the classic Julie Andrews film musical in glorious, full-screen technicolor, complete with subtitles so that the whole audience can sing along! Then of course there is the famous fancy-dress competition in which everyone who has come in costume is invited onto the stage to show off their fantastic tailoring skills. Tickets are $7 for kids 5-12 years old (4 and under are free) , adults are $12 per person.
Baisakhi Mela– and Indian Spring festival returns to the amphitheatre April 28 all day from 11am – 9pm. This fun festival celebrates 100 years of Bollywood in a mesmerizing evening of songs and performances! Featuring Winner of SaReGaMaPa 2008, Darshana Menon along with Salem, Soujanya & Neel. Spend the day listening to live music while visiting vendor booths of jewelry, handicrafts, dresses, henna tattoos and Indian food!
The Hob Nob Jazz series returns with four concerts scheduled on the crescent four Wednesday evenings in a row starting May 1 with Side Car Social. Tickets for the series are only $5 per person. May 1 is Side Car Social, May 8 is Peter Lamb and the Wolves, May 15 Al Strong Quartet, May 22 is Mint Julep Jazz Band and the final concert May 29 is Outside Soul.
Lyle Lovett performs at the Band Together Benefit on May 4. Additional performances by Delta Rae, Chatham County Line and Mac and Juice. Tickets range from general admission lawn seating at $34.50 to special VIP packages of $150. All proceeds benefit the Tammy Lynn Center.
The Concert Singers of Cary perform Strike Up The Band on Saturday May 11. Tickets range from $12- $25 and children under 12 are admitted free.
The NC Symphony returns to their summer home in Cary with their opening performance on Saturday May 25. Each year they open the season with their Playing with the Pros concert in which area student musicians have the opportunity to play along with the professionals from the symphony. This year the symphony open with Brahms Symphony No 2. gates open at 5:30 and the concert begins at 7. Picnics welcome.
The Triangle Wind Ensemble presents An American Celebration on May 26 featuring the music of John Williams. Tickets are $15 for the lawn and $25 reserved seating.
Passion Pit comes to the amphitheatre June 11, just n time for traditional school to be out. If you listen to any pop radio stations you have no doubt heard their hits Carried Away and Take a Walk. I’m going to this one with my daughters (can’t wait!) Take A Walk (video) Tickets are $30 and $35 for the show.
The Lumineers perform two days later. This fun indy band has a current hist “Ho Hey” (video) and “Stubborn Love”. They have a fun “almost” country sound that features violin. Something different for us suburbanites. Tickets went on sale this week for this show for $35-$45.
Harry Connick Jr visits Cary on July 9 as he tours to promote his latest album “Every Man Should Know”. Tickets are $39.50- $79.50 for reserved seating.
The amphitheatre hosts a second sing-along with the movie Grease on August 24.
