Hunt For Clues

Maybe you live in central Cary, but you don’t know the west side of town. Perhaps you visit lots of parks with your kids. Do you frequent restaurants and pubs in town? Play soccer?

The truth is that it’s hard to know ALL of Cary. That’s why we created the Cary Scavenger Hunt.

Our town is 54 square miles and has several world-class venues that many Cary-ites have never visited. Now’s your chance to get out of your comfort zone and have an adventure right here in your own back yard.

Be Prepared

You may want to do a little research before you go. By all means read CaryCitizen! We always create clues from coverage. Pay attention to our sponsors who play a very important part in the Hunt (hint, hint!).

The Venue

Each year we check out a new venue, making the location part of the discovery inherent in the event itself.

In the past, we have been at Koka Booth Amphitheatre, Cary Arts Center and Waverly Place.

This year, we move to the Page-Walker Arts and History Center to kick off and end the day of fun. One of the coolest old buildings in Downtown Cary, its history includes time as a railroad hotel for passengers traveling through Cary.

What to Expect

Sign-up a Family Team (related members with parents) or Adult team (all over 18).

The day starts with check in at Page-Walker between 9am and 9:30. Each team will be given an official clue book and a bag to collect items. Teams all leave at the same time and will plot their routes based on reading the clues and strategizing how to get as much done as possible within the allotted time.

All teams must return for official check in no later than 1:30pm. Not back in time, lose points.

A mini-festival awaits the teams at the finish. Expect food, kids activities and things to keep you busy while your books are tallied by our celebrity judges. Winners announced at 3:00pm.

About Clues

Clues will have different point values to help you prioritize where to go. Teams should think strategically try to figure out the best route before you drive all over town and waste time!

How Do You Win?

Teams in each category (family and adult) with the most points win. Other prizes, too. We even have a prize for lowest point total (you know who you are).

Just sign up, have fun, and don’t worry TOO much about points! We want everyone to have an exciting, memory-filled day. That’s winning.
