RailHawks vs NY Cosmos and other Weekend Events
Cary, NC – I’m excited because the legendary New York Cosmos are coming to play the RailHawks in Cary on Saturday night. And that’s not all that’s happening this weekend.
RailHawks vs NY Cosmos
During my youth in the New York metropolitan area, the Cosmos were the stuff of legend.
The Cosmos played in America’s first professional soccer league, the original NASL. And, from 1975-77, they had the greatest player in the world, a Brazilian named Edson Nascimento, better known as Pelé.
Now, the RailHawks play for the newly revived NASL, and the Cosmos are back, too. Even Pelé is back, as honorary president of the New York club.
The ‘Hawks are tied with the Cosmos at 2-1-1 in the Fall season.

More Weekend Events
Friday is a special concert of chamber and Baroque music at Cary Arts Center, featuring The Mallarmé Chamber Players and The North Carolina Baroque Orchestra.
And don’t forget to visit one of Cary’s three farmer’s markets on Saturday morning. Not that many weeks of grilling and chilling left.

Pelé has been a great ambassador for the sport of soccer for decades.
I still remember when he came to visit our small town of Larchmont, NY back in the 70s to encourage participation in our small town recreational soccer league that had just been organized by the first “soccer moms”.
The Cosmos even arranged for our players to go onto the field at halftime of one of their games at Giants Stadium.
I look forward to their visit and the Railhawks domination of the newly revived NASL.
