Cary, NC — The first weekend in December has 84 events on the CaryCitizen Calendar. Many are holiday-themed, but there’s plenty to do including the NCAA Div 1 Soccer Women’s College Cup.

Thursday has more than 30 events on the Calendar. Here’s an interesting one: Cameos and Cookies at The Matthews House. Acclaimed British photographer Warren McCormack will be on hand to take holiday pictures with the whole family. Santa will be there, too. Hot cocoa and cookies for everyone. $5 at the door (portraits not included). 4 – 6 PM.
Also Thursday, the Morrisville Chamber is having their fabulous Holiday bash at Chef’s Academy. CaryCitizen will be there!

Friday, December 6, 2013
Friday is the start of the NCAA Women’s Soccer National Championship. Thousands of visitors will be descending on Wake Make Soccer Park Friday night as Virginia Tech faces Florida State at 5 PM and UCLA plays Virginia at 7:30. More info.
All weekend (Thursday – Sunday), Cary Players will be presenting A Christmas Story at Cary Arts Center. Get tickets.
Also Friday night, Arbolito de la Esperanza, the Tree of Hope, will be celebrated at Herb Young Community Center. “The lighting of the Arbolito represents rays of hope for Latino children. The lighting of the tree is preceded by a traditional Latin celebration were the public participates in a pot-luck dinner with typical Latino foods. Those present can make donations and place a star on the tree for the duration of the campaign. Everyone is welcome. Cosponsored by Diamante, Inc. and the Town of Cary. The highlight Saturday is the Ole Time Winter Festival in Downtown Cary from 10 AM – 4 PM. “Festival goers can enjoy arts & crafts, entertainment, food, activities, and more. Santa will be there. Start (or finish) your holiday shopping!”
The Cary High School Concert Chorus will perform at Raleigh Moravian Church on Saturday at 3 PM.
Page-Walker has an open house from 4-6 PM. Enjoy carriage rides, holiday treats and Victorian Carolers.

Sunday, December 8, 2013
The TV crews will be rolling into Cary on Sunday for the NCAA College Cup, the championship game for Division 1 women’s soccer (semi-finals are on Friday). Every seat in the newly expanded Wake Med Soccer Park will be full, with thousands more watching across the country. When it comes to women’s college soccer, all eyes will be on Cary Sunday afternoon at 3 PM.
Also Sunday, Cary Community Choir will have their 43rd annual performance of Handel’s Messiah at Kirk of Kildaire.
