Cary, NC — Have you already made your plans for New Year’s Eve? If you feel like going out and not playing host to your own shin-dig, then check out CaryCitizen’s guide to happenings here in Cary. From casual to super dressy, reservations or drop ins there’s plenty of New Year’s Eve choices right here in town. But remember, drink responsibly or call a cab if you’ve had a little too much!

In the Bars

Doherty’s, 1979 High House Rd, Cary This Irish pub will have live music and serve a full 4 course meal dubbed, “New Year’s Rockin’ Eve” . The evening includes: 4 course meal & champagne toast. Music provided by DJ George gets started at 10pm Reservations: Call us at 919-388-9930. Cost: $70/couple

Ruckus Pizza Pasta & Spirits, Market Center Drive, Morrisville This local restaurant and bar has 2 Cary area locations and both are doing something fun to ring in the new year. Second Hand Flapjack one of our favorite bands ever! Drink specials and a champagne toast at both stores. $50 gift card for the ugliest sweater  at each location. The band gets started around 9:00pm.

You can also expect New Year’s Eve celebrations at your local neighborhood venue including Abbey Road, West Park Tavern, UnWine’d in Downtown Cary, Hibernian, O’Malley’s, Trali in Morrisville and elsewhere.

Academy Street Bistro , in Ashworth Village Downtown Cary is hosting a price fix dinner with choices of appetizers, entrees and dessert, with a champagne toast at midnight on New Year’s. Includes:

Heron’s,  at the The Umstead Hotel and Spa ∙ 100 Woodland Pond Drive. Enjoy an exquisitely prepared four course New Year’s Eve Dinner in Herons.   The menu will celebrate the winter harvests and the warmth and flavors of the season. New Year’s Eve Menu includes four courses each paired with a wine. Start with a farm apple soup, and scallops, a winter salad, beef filet and short rib served with mushroom pudding, and a chocolate and gold dessert. Dinner is $125 per person, wine pairings are $50 per person.  Taxes and gratuity not included. For reservations, please call 919-447-4000.

An, 2800 Renaissance Park Pl, in the Arboretum, off Weston Parkway. This Asian fusion restaurant \ will offer a prix fix menu with selections by Executive Chef Stephen Greene. Starting off with salmon tartare, then a pumpkin coconut soup that includes lobster. Main course will include Miso Sea Bass and Beef Filet and finishes up with a Chocolate bittersweet cake. Pricing is $85/ person and wine pairing are an additional $35. Reservations  Cary, NC 27513. Chef’s Palette , 3460 Ten-Ten Road is having a New Years Eve bash, for details phone 919-267-6011. All of Cary’s fine restaurants will be rocking on New Year’s Eve, so make sure you have a reservation. Some of our other favorites around town include Dean’s, Cafe 121, Enrigo, Thai Spices and Maximillian’s.

Hotels and Convention Centers

 The Umstead Hotel and Spa– 100 Woodland Pond Drive, Cary, NC 27513. New Year’s celebration at the Umstead welcomes back The Deanna Jones Orchestra, a 14 piece ensemble playing a variety of Motown, Big Band productions as well as modern hits and classic party songs.  Enjoy an open bar of premium brand liquors, wine and beer to accompany the small plates cuisine. Black Tie Optional, Jacket and Tie Required. All guests must be 21+ years of age. Goels Plaza Banquet & Conference Center- 117 International Dr, Morrisville. With the largest dance floor in the state, this convention and events venue will have dance contests and salsa lessons during the fun filled evening for the whole family. Indian food and drinks specials catered by Saffron can be purchased separately. Photo portraits available. The Matthews House is offering a special way to celebrate. Order ahead, pick up, heat and get the party started. Fitness Challenges

Hot Chocolate Run at Bond Park, produced by Fit & Able Productions

Whether you are a Big Mug or a Little Cup runner you, your family, and friends will enjoy your first race in the New Year followed by a nice cup of hot chocolate.  Dog owners are welcome to run with their pups.  For $5 per pup it will be happy trails for dog owners entered in the event.  And, the full $5 will be donated to the Wake County SPCA.  All finishers will not only get a beverage that warms your hands and heart but will also get to take home the beautiful ceramic mug to fill over and over again!
