Learn About Drinking Water Issues at Forum

drinking-water-issues-2

Cary, NC — Are you concerned about the quality of the drinking water in Wake County? Wake UP Wake is hosting a forum on June 18. 2014 to foster discussion surrounding issues that can affect the water we drink.

Clean Drinking Water Forum

The forum is called, Clean Water, More Valuable than Oil: State Actions Affecting Your Water, and is being held in reaction to recent legislative actions which could halt clean-up plans for Jordan Lake. In addition, the current legislature plans to review every water rule and regulation in North Carolina over the coming year. There are well-founded fears that this review could roll back efforts to address the pollution of the Triangle’s major drinking water reservoirs.

The forum will include presentations by local academic experts about Jordan and Falls Lakes and policy challenges to the area’s water supplies. A select panel of government and non-government key leaders will have a lively discussion about whether water regulations harm the economy or create jobs.

The forum asks the question: ” Is water more valuable than oil to communities?”

This event is the 2nd in a three-part WakeUP Wake County community education series about water quality.  Details below and agenda attached.
