Thursday offers something to the parents of returning school children. Starting at 4 pm in front of the Stone Theater off of Cary Parkway, there is the Back to School Bash hosted by the Covenant Life Church. It offers health screenings, giveaways as well as food and fun.

Later on in the day, Nickel Creek comes to Koka Booth to perform their acoustic style. Lawn tickets start at $35, so if you want to spend a late summer evening, resting on the grass and listening to charming music, this is where you want to be. Show starts at 7:30 pm.

Friday night is Family Karaoke night at Havana Grill on West Chatham Street. Starting at 7 pm, the event goes on to 10 that night. And don’t worry about how you sound. It’s your family, they already heard you in the shower.

The Hibernian will be hosting a local classic rock group, The Whisky Runners, at their Kildaire Farm location. The show starts at 10pm.

Saturday mornings are always a great time to explore the local farmers markets. In season right now: Apples are just beginning their season, while tomatoes are just ending theirs. Cucumbers, eggplants, basil and string beans are all in the markets now. Pick something up on Saturday morning, along with farm fresh cheeses, meat, eggs and more.

At 10 am there will be the Healthy Kids Back to School Expo at Cary Towne Center. There will be free information, prizes and mall gift cards. And if sports and fitness is your child’s thing, there will also be a fitness expo, giving them the information that any active child should have.

Josh Groban‘s coming to town this Saturday and he’s not alone. Performing alongside the talented artist is the NC Symphony. They will be taking the stage at Koka Booth, as well, and ticket prices start at $49.50. The show starts at 8 pm and is expected to last until 11.
