Eat Chili & Stop Hunger with Cary Rotary
Cary, NC — The Cary Rotary Club will host their 12th annual Chili Dinner (and lunch) on Friday, January 30, 2015. Meal proceeds will help raise funds for Hunger Relief Charities.
$283,000 Raised So Far
The annual Chili Dinner is the Cary Rotary Club’s largest event of the year. Over the past 11 years, the club has raised $283,000 for hunger relief charities, and you can participate to keep the tradition alive.
Where exactly does the money go? Of the $283,000 total, $156,800 helped fund Stop Hunger Now’s “Million Meals for Children” project. This project, established by the Cary Rotary, has packaged 3.1 million meals since 2006. Each package, specially formulated for the undernourished, goes to feed hungry children in some of the poorest countries in Africa and South America.
Other funds have gone to the following charities: the Interfaith Food Shuttle, Meals on Wheels, the Shepard’s Table Soup Kitchen, Urban Ministries, Raleigh Rescue Mission, and more. These charities provide food, healthcare, and other supplies to people in our area needing nourishment and shelter.
