Cary, NC — There is quite a bit going on in Cary this weekend! Don’t miss the Cary Police Dept. take on the Invasion basketball team, a Daddy-Daughter Dance, a Mardi Gras Kickoff, Downtown Cary’s “Food & Flea Market,” and an event all about chocolate. And, did you know that the circus is coming to town?

A Daddy-Daughter Dance for girls ages 7-12 will be held at the Cary Senior Center from 6-9 pm on Friday evening. Each couple will receive a 5 x 7 photo; photography starts at 5 pm. Tickets range from $17-$22 and must be purchased in advance. This event is now sold out.
Also from 6-9 pm, a Mardi Gras Kickoff Party will take place at the Atrium in Cary, 11000 Regency Parkway on Friday evening. This fundraising event helps Life Experiences, Inc. and the Cary MacGregor Rotary Club continue serving the community. Tickets range from $25 (online) to $30 (door price). Attendees will enjoy raffles, prizes, food, and a live band.
Later on, Six Strings Presents will bring artists Greg Trooper and Sally Barris to the Cary Theater from 8-9 pm. Tickets start at just $20.

Chatham Hill Winery hosts an Oak Barrel Tasting on the first Saturday of every month from 11 am-6 pm. Find more events and information on Facebook.
Do you need a day to yourself? College Nannies & Tutors of Cary will keep children ages 3 and up entertained from 2-6 pm at their NW Maynard Road location. With the nannies, children will make Valentines for nursing home residents and local emergency personnel. Fees are $20 per child and $5 for an additional sibling. Call 919-896-7227 to reserve a spot.
Mosaic Church, in partnership with Mt. Zion Church, is hosting a Watoto Children’s Choir Performance from 4-6 pm on Saturday. The choir, made up of children who have lost parents to war or disease, travel internationally as advocates for the 50 million orphaned children in Africa. Don’t miss this evening of music, stories, and dance.
This weekend is also a great chance to witness the Cary Invasion Basketball Police Benefit game. The Town of Cary Police Department will take on the Invasion at the Herb Young Community Center from 6-9 pm, with game proceeds benefiting Dorcas ministries. Tickets are only $10 at the door.

On the second Sunday of each month, Downtown Cary hosts their Food & Flea event from noon-4 pm. Local craft beer, food trucks, vintage goods, artists, crafters, music, and more will fill Ashworth Village (at the corner of Academy and Chatham streets).
Do you love chocolate? An elegant afternoon devoted to the craft of chocolate will take place at the Umsted Hotel from 3-5 pm on Sunday. At this Videri Chocolate Event, a pastry chef will instruct attendees on the process of making chocolate, starting with the selection of cocoa beans and finishing with a chocolate mousse. Tickets are $55; call 919-447-4000 for reservations.
Also on Sunday, at the Cary Arts Center, kids and adults can enjoy the Triangle Wind Ensemble’s Build-a-Band Concert from 4-5 pm. Tickets for this interactive concert are $8 and can be purchased on etix.

Across the Triangle
On Wednesday-Friday, a Southern Farm Show, complete with cow dog and sawmill demonstrations, antique farm equipment, bluegrass music, tractor and truck driving competitions, and more, will take place at the NC State Fairgrounds. The event is free.
The circus comes to town this weekend! Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey will present “Legends” at the PNC Arena in Raleigh. The annual event features elephants, tigers, clowns, acrobats, superhuman stunts, and more. Tickets start at $20 and are available online (find showtimes there, too).
LEGO-Palooza will return to the Morehead Planetarium in Chapel Hill on Saturday from 11 am-4 pm and on Sunday from 1-4 pm. This exhibit will feature amazing displays of unique LEGO scenes, from settlements in outer space to forts, amusement parks, city landmarks, and more constructed by the NC LEGO Users Group.
