Garden Supply Auction This Weekend

Cary, NC — Food, face painting and “funky finds” await you at Garden Supply Company on Old Apex Road in Cary this weekend. Don’t miss their 13th Spring Fling Auction, hosted by Wester Auction & Realty, all day this Saturday, March 14, 2015.

Food, Fun & Funky Finds

After taking a two-year break from hosting Spring Fling Auctions, Garden Supply Co. is bringing the event back this weekend–and it should be more fun than ever before.

Hundreds of gardening items from every department will be up for grabs, including plants, pots, fountains, antiques and home decor. The auction will also feature “funky finds” unrelated to gardening supplies–like real bowling pins, traffic lights, old furniture and “knick knacks.”

Kitty Mazza, General Manager at Garden Supply, told me that:

People who are auction junkies always come and we hope, through publicity, to draw new people [to the event] to give it a try. It’s a fun and exciting atmosphere, and it’s easy to get great deals.

Free pizza, hot dogs and face painting are part of the Garden Supply auction, too. Guests who are at the auction between 2:30 and 5:30 pm will get to enjoy cupcakes from the Iced Cupcakes food truck.

“Staying in Business Auction”

Keith Ramsey, co-owner of Garden Supply with his wife Deborah, told CaryCitizen publisher Hal Goodtree that this was their annual “staying in business” auction.

“Other companies have ‘going out of business’ auctions,” said Ramsey. “We decided from the very beginning to raise cash and get rid of stuff we didn’t need with an auction.”

“One year, we sold a statue without a head for $10,” Ramsey continued. “Later on, we found the head and auctioned it off for $8. People have fun and you never know what you’ll find.”

An Absolute Auction

The Garden Supply auction is an “absolute auction,” which means that the sale of each item will be awarded to the highest bidder.

Absolute auctions, unlike other auctions, don’t have a “reserve price” or a minimum required bid for the item to be sold–so you never know what you’ll get for what price!

The auctioneer, Wester Auction & Realty, was established in 1989 and specializes in the liquidation of business assets, municipal surplus and real estate.
