Mr. Blue Shoes in Cary
Through the Town of Cary’s 2014-15 Marvelous Music Family Series, Mr. Blue Shoes treated Cary kids to an engaging history experience last weekend.
Mr. Blue Shoes, also known as Michael Dyson, has been sharing his unique version of Blues music history with children since 2008. His concerts combine Blues music, oral history, and life lessons that entertain children of all ages.
Through music, song, dance, and storytelling, Mr. Blue Shoes covers a historical span of 400 years and teaches children about West African culture, early 20th century history, famous Blues musicians, the Great Migration, and Blues music’s influence on American music. Audience participation is key in a Mr. Blue Shoes concert–children don’t just become engaged through the music; rather, they are invited to sing, dance, clap, and spend time with Dyson on-stage.
