Thursday, June 11, 2015

Enjoy dinner and live, outdoor music at Park West Village tonight starting at 6 pm.

Then, Bridget Jones’s Diary will be shown on-screen outdoors at Koka Booth Amphitheatre as part of the Movies by Moonlight series. Gates open at 7 pm, and the show starts at 8:30. Tickets are only $5, and patrons can bring beer, wine and picnics.

It’s also Dinosaur Week at the Cary Theater, so catch The Lost World: Jurassic Park 2 at 7 pm and Jurassic Park 3 at 9:30 pm, as well as four other dinosaur movies later in the weekend.

Every Friday is WineAway Friday at Chatham Hill Winery in Cary, which means live music starting at 7 pm, $5 wine slushies and generous $12 wine and beer flights.

The Triangle Wind Ensemble will play at Sertoma Amphitheatre at Bond Park at 7 pm on Friday evening. This show is free, and patrons are encouraged to bring chairs, blankets and picnics.

At 7:30 pm at Koka Booth, hear the NC Symphony’s Russian Festival musical selections. Lawn tickets are $30 day-of, and table tickets are $32. Kids 12 and under are admitted free.

Visit Cary’s large selection of Farmers Markets this Saturday morning, including the:

  • UNC Wellness Market (7:30 am-12:30 pm at 350 Stonecroft Lane in Cary)
  • Cary Downtown Farmer’s Market (8 am-12:30 pm in front of the Ivey Ellington House)
  • Western Wake Farmers Market (8 am-noon at 101 Gathering Park Circle)
  • Waverly Farmers Market (9 am-1 pm at Waverly Place in Cary)

Dinosaur Week continues at The Cary with The Land Before Time at 10 am, Journey to the Center of the Earth at 7 pm and Land of the Lost at 9 pm.

Then, don’t miss a free Bluegrass concert featuring Lynda and Pattie in Bond Park at 6 pm.

It’s the second Sunday of the month, which means that the Downtown Cary Food & Flea will fill Ashworth Village with vintage goods, food trucks, entertainment and more from noon-4 pm.

Across the Triangle

To celebrate the State Capitol’s 175th anniversary,  a Barbecue & Bluegrass Birthday Bash and fundraiser will be held on Saturday, June 13, 2015 from 5 to 8 pm in Downtown Raleigh. Bluegrass music, barbecue plates with sides and beverages are all part of the event.

Sunday, June 14, 2015 wraps up Triangle Restaurant Week, where distinctive restaurants in Cary, Durham, Raleigh, etc. offer several-course meals at reduced, fixed prices.

The Rusted Roots Summer Junk Market is this weekend, Saturday, June 13, 2015 in Chapel Hill at the Shops at Daniel Boone Village with antiques, upcycled “junk” (think old door knobs-turned succulent holders), handmade items, live music and food trucks.
