Tomato Day

Tomato Day: This Weekend in Carrboro

Tomato Day

Editor’s Note: We found news of an exciting event in Carrboro this weekend (just a short drive from Cary) thanks to our friends at The Better Sleep Store in Chapel Hill.

Carrboro, NC — It’s a big weekend for fresh produce in Carrboro. On Saturday, July 11, 2015, Tomato Day will return to Carrboro with over 75 tomato varieties in different sizes, shapes and colors. Then, throughout the whole weekend, enjoy a town-wide Summer Harvest Sale.

Do You Like Pink Tomatoes?

Do you like pink tomatoes? What about purple? We’ve never seen them before but, according to the Carrboro Farmer’s Market, these unusually-colored fruits will be on display alongside their red, green, yellow and orange counterparts this Saturday, July 11, for Tomato Day 2015.

Tomato Day at the Farmers’ Market

Tomato Day has become an annual celebration at the Carrboro Farmers’ Market, just minutes from Chapel Hill. This year, market-goers will be able to enjoy freshly sliced tomato samples, raffle prizes, kids activities, recipes, a meet-and-greet with a local chef, live bluegrass and Latin-style music and over 75 different tomato varieties for sale.

The celebration will last until the market runs out of tomatoes.

Not a Fan of Tomatoes?

If tomatoes aren’t your thing, no worries–in addition to Tomato Day, a town-wide Summer Harvest Sale will fill Carrboro’s streets all weekend long, July 10-July 12, 2015.

This special weekend will include sidewalk sales at local shops, discounts on food and drinks at Carrboro restaurants and free crafts and events on Saturday.
