Editor’s Journal: Extra Innings & Blu Bop
Editor’s Note: The weekly editor’s journal is a collection of photos, thoughts and events from last week that didn’t make it into stories of their own.
Cary, NC — A family-friendly networking event at Cary’s USA Baseball Training Complex combined with a lively outdoor concert in Bond Park made for a great time last week.
Extra Innings Networking at USA Baseball
CaryCitizen always looks forward to the Extra Innings Networking Night. Tuesday, July 7, 2015, marked the eight-year anniversary of this event, and we enjoyed free food and drinks while chatting with friends before the USA Baseball Professional Team took on Cuba at 7 pm.
This event is always free to members of participating chambers of commerce or other groups, and there is enough food and activities that they can bring their family and friends along, too.
Live Music at Sertoma Amphitheatre
On Saturday, July 11, 2015, CaryCitizen enjoyed the music of Bela Fleck & the Flecktones, performed by Blu Bop, at the beautiful Sertoma Amphitheatre in Bond Park.
Bela Fleck and the Flecktones is a mostly instrumental band that formed in 1988 and incorporates bluegrass and fusion with a jazz flair.
Blu Bop proved to be a high-energy, entertaining group full of great musicians.
The younger audience members certainly thought so, too.
