Cary Scavenger Hunt: The Prizes

trophies

Cary, NC — The Cary Scavenger Hunt takes place on Saturday, September 12, 2015. As a reader of CaryCitizen, you probably already know lots of Cary trivia. These odd facts and miscellaneous knowledge could help you win big at the finish – but what will you win?

Everyone Can Win

Teams of up to four people compete to claim the biggest prizes, but anyone can win our raffles.

Three Team Categories

Teams register to compete in one of three team categories. They are:

  • Adult Teams – Four unrelated or semi-related adults (all over 18)
  • Family Teams – Adults with related children or parts or two families (someone is a parent of the others on the team)
  • Corporate Teams – Employees from one company. A company may sponsor from 1-3 teams of their employees. This can include spouses or families of employees. They will wear shirts bearing the company logo during the Hunt.

Register for the hunt online.

What Teams Win

The top three teams in each category will win trophies for first, second and third place.

They also win cash prizes to split between them:

  • 1st Place – $250
  • 2nd Place – $100
  • 3rd Place – $50

There is even a prize for the team with the lowest score of the day. That team will be awarded four tickets to Triangle Food Tour’s Downtown Cary restaurant tasting tour, to be scheduled when it suits the team members. Great way for them to learn a little more about Cary, right?

Grand Prize Drawing

You don’t have to be an expert to win something cool at the Cary Scavenger Hunt. Everyone can enter to win FREE raffle drawings at the finish. The grand raffle prize this year is a “Sweet Escape to a Romantic Hideaway” donated by the soon-to-open Mayton Inn.

Get pampered with two luxurious nights in the romantic Waldo Cottage at the Mayton Inn. Enjoy a couples massage followed by a toast and dinner in their restaurant, Veranda. Have a nightcap of port and chocolates. Breakfast in the morning completes the package, valued at $1,100.

Stonehaven Jewelers, located in Downtown Cary, has donated a piece of jewelry valued at $500. This custom jewelry company creates one-of-a-kind pieces to hand down over generations. Other prizes include free bowling packages from Buffaloe Lanes, a membership to Triangle Table Tennis, tickets to the Cary Players’ Fall production and much more.

The Finish

To ease all the stress of waiting for your scores, we have a party at the finish line. The School of Rock musicians will play as teams return. There are booths from area businesses and food to sample from Academy Street Bistro, Smoothie King, Moe’s, BlackFinn, Dave & Busters, Chick Fil A Waverly, Great Harvest Bread and Firewurst. We may even have a few food trucks!

Winners

Raffle prizes are awarded at 2:30 pm. Our winners are announced between 3-3:30 pm.

Do you think you know Cary? Even if you don’t, you’ll have a great time learning about this wonderful town we call home. So what are you waiting for? Sign up today!

Prize Money Could Increase

If we exceed our registration goals, the cash amount for winners will increase! After we hit 60 teams, we will increase the prize pot by $5 for each additional team that registers. We are already more than halfway to that goal with 31 teams on board as of this writing!

Help us spread the word and increase registration.
