Fire Station Day – Saturday in Cary
Cary, NC — The Town of Cary’s eight fire stations will be open to the public on Saturday, October 17, 2015 for families can stop by to meet firefighters and learn about fire safety.
Fire Station Day
Cary’s eight fire stations will all host open houses on Saturday October 17, 2015 from 10 am – 2 pm. Citizens who stop by any (or all) of the fire stations can meet the firefighters, see the firefighting and rescue equipment and learn important safety tips and skills.
Children can pick up free plastic fire hats, stickers, coloring books, pencils, temporary tattoos and fire safety fact sheets. There will be a coloring contest for ages five and under with two winners chosen from each fire station. The winners will receive a Sparky the Fire Dog book.
Children can also participate in a Fire Safe Challenge contest – if they answer eight questions correctly and return or mail the challenge to the Fire Department’s Administrative Office by October 30, 2015 to be eligible to participate in a drawing for a Sparky the Fire Dog book.
Take-Home Message
Though fire station day is fun, it’s also a chance for the public to learn more about fire safety. The open houses make for a good wrap-up for Fire Safety Week, which was October 4-10.
This event isn’t just for kids! This year, fire safety activities are focused on fire and smoke alarms, and officials will talk about the importance of working smoke alarms into every bedroom, outside each sleeping level and on every level of the home.

Thanks to CFD for hosting this open house! We went to Fire Station #8, got a great tour of this amazing, award-winning facility and got to meet — and thank — several firefighters who work there.
This is another of the many things that make Cary special.
