Business Bits: What’s New in Cary?

Cary, NC — Each month, look for our Business Bits column, where we’ll highlight “been here a little while,” brand new and opening soon businesses in Cary and Morrisville.

Now Open in Cary & Morrisville

A fair-trade store with gifts from all over the world, a new wine market and a Morrisville bank just opened in the area. Also, take note of three grand openings.

Wine Market

Chatham Street Wine Market, 111 W. Chatham Street, Cary
Chatham Street Wine Market just opened in Downtown Cary. The market sells wines from all over the world with a focus on smaller production, family-owned wines that are also great values. Customers can stop in to buy a bottle, enjoy a glass of wine at the tasting bar or talk wine with the owner, Doug, who tastes everything he sells.

Free wine tastings are held every Thursday from 5-7 pm.

Artisan Crafts & Gift Shop

Ten Thousand Villages, 1357 Kildaire Farm Road, Cary
Ten Thousand Villages was formerly in Raleigh’s Cameron Village Shopping Center, but they just relocated to Cary last month. The store is a non-profit, fair trade retailer offering handicrafts by artisans in more than 30 countries. Products include home and garden decor, jewelry and personal accessories, musical instruments, toys, coffee and tea.

It’s a great place to buy gifts for friends – or yourself.

Bank

Welcome Federal Credit Union, 10810 Chapel Hill Road, Morrisville
Welcome Federal Credit Union just opened in October in Morrisville. The credit union is a not-for-profit, member-owned financial cooperative committed to a philosophy of “people helping people.” This location, located in Perimeter Park, is Welcome Federal’s main branch.

Grand Openings

Children’s Lighthouse Learning Center – Saturday, November 7, 2015
This learning center opened several weeks ago in west Cary, but they’re celebrating a grand opening this Saturday from 10 am-1 pm with a magician, food, drinks and tours.

Chatham Street Wine Market – Saturday, November 14, 2015
There will be food and wine tastings all day long, 11 am-8 pm.

Ten Thousand Villages – Saturday, November 14, 2015
The grand opening celebration at Ten Thousand Villages will feature Indian dance, Women’s Bean Project food sampling, fair trade presentations, African drumming, raffles, gift bags, savory snacks from restaurant neighbors, and music of South America from 11 am-4 pm.
