CORRAL Riding Academy Raises $1 Million

Cary, NC — CORRAL Riding Academy recently raised $1 million over the course of a three month campaign to support the work they do at a farm at 3620 Kildaire Farm Road.

In celebration of such a huge milestone, the nonprofit held a Million Dollar Miracle Celebration on March 19, 2016. The money raised will go towards the ongoing upkeep of the horse farm and programs provided to at-risk teen girls in Wake County.

900 Supporters, Three Months

It took just three months and 900 supporters to raise $1 million to save CORRAL Riding Academy’s farm, now being called the “Million Dollar Miracle.” The event was open to the general public and was held as a way for the organization to thank the community for their outpouring of support. At the free event, attendees enjoyed food and a mustang riding demonstration, apple bobbing, hayrides, corn hole games and a petting zoo.

“We’re truly blessed that our farm has been saved,” said CORRAL founder Joy Currey. “We give all glory to God who moved this amazing community of supporters and donors to help us continue providing healing for the young women we serve. This celebration is a chance for us to say ‘thank you.’”

The Mission

CORRAL harnesses the power of equine-assisted psychotherapy to help heal the lives of young women who have experienced abuse, neglect and trauma. The girls are referred to CORRAL by human services organizations, juvenile justice authorities, schools, law enforcement and other community organizations. The girls are paired with rescued horses, and, through riding lessons, therapy and tutoring, begin to heal and build healthier relationships, discipline and hope.

Since 2008, CORRAL has transformed the lives of more than 100 young women by stopping the cycle of hurt through their work on the farm. Over the next five years, CORRAL plans to impact 500 more young women.
