The first Live at Lunch concert series of 2016 kicks off today in downtown Cary in front of Fidelity Bank in downtown Cary. Thursday, between 11:30 am-1 pm, enjoy your lunch picnic table-style while you listen to free, live music.

Cary’s first FAD Festival will be held at The Cary Theater on Friday at 7 pm. The FAD (film, art, dance) Festival is a brand new event showcasing the best of local, national, and international dance and movement-based short films. Tickets are available in advance or at the door and range from $3-$7.
Cary Town Band’s Play with the Band concert is also tonight at 7:30 pm at the Cary Arts Center. If you attend this free recital, you’ll see young musicians play alongside the Cary Town Band professional orchestra.

This weekend in Morrisville, check out one of our favorite events – a Civil War Commemoration Day. This event recognizes Morrisville’s Civil War history with fun, games, costume and educational activities on Town Hall campus between 10 am-2 pm.
The Beer & Bacon Festival is also this weekend at Booth Amphitheatre in Cary. 75 craft beers, 15 restaurants and all the bacon you can eat are represented at this event. Festivities start at noon for VIPs and at 2 pm for regular ticket holders, and the party goes until 6 pm. You can find more information on tickets and prices online at beerandbacon.com.
If beer and bacon aren’t your thing, here’s another neat event – Pasta & Poetry at Georgina’s Pizzeria in Morrisville. Between noon-2 pm, enjoy a poetry reading, book sale and talk by poet Deborah K. Miller. A portion of book sales and lunch go to benefit Life Experiences, a local non-profit helping adults with intellectual disabilities have a better quality of life.
Park West Village will celebrate a fresh season with their annual Spring Fling on Saturday from 2-6 pm. The free festival will take place n the lawn in front of the movie theater. Bring your lawn chairs and picnic blankets out to jam out with favorite local band Four Founders and enjoy a inflated mega-slide, climbing rock wall, a trackless train circulating the District, bouncy houses, field day games, free face painting and a free petting zoo.
Our favorite Cary Invasion basketball team will wrap up their season with a 7 pm home game at the Herb Young Community Center in downtown Cary. This week’s game is against Lumberton. Get their early for dinner and a good seat!
The Triangle Wind Ensemble will perform at the Cary Arts Center at 7:30 pm. Tickets are $15 on etix. Then, at 8 pm, Six Strings will present Beth Wood & Mary Johnson Rockers at The Cary Theater. Tickets start at $20.

It’s the second Sunday of the month, which means that Downtown Cary Food & Flea Market is up and running in Ashworth Village between noon-4 pm. You won’t want to miss the craft beer, food trucks and distinct homemade crafts.
Schedule in some room to relax and celebrate poetry at an festival of poets, scholars and lovers of poetry this afternoon and evening at the Page-Walker Arts & History Center. At the Nazim Hikmet Festival, you’ll listen to poetry readings and keynote speakers then enjoy a reception with poets from around the world. This event is free.
Triangle’s Got Talent is Sunday from 5-7 pm at The Cary – this event showcases talents of Cary high schoolers.

Gavin DeGraw will perform at the Red Hat Amphitheater on Friday, April 8, 2016. The gates open at 7 pm.
Admission is free to the Outdoor Full Frame Film Festival in Durham on Saturday, April 9, 2016 from 5:30-10:30 pm in Durham Central Park. Documentaries, food trucks and (hopefully) great weather – what could be better?
Carrboro Open Streets is Sunday, April 10, 2016 from 12-4 pm in Downtown Carrboro (at East and West Main Streets). The Carrboro Bicycle Coalition started this project to encourage community building through a variety of activities. The entire community is invited to dance, do yoga, ride their bikes, climb a rock wall, make smoothies and more in a public space.
