Cary Scavenger Hunt: Our Biggest Hint

Cary, NC – The Cary Scavenger Hunt is in its seventh year of memory-making fun. One of our biggest hints about how to win big involves our wonderful sponsors.

That’s right: without the help of these locally owned Cary businesses, CaryCitizen could not create our event. These wonderful folks make it possible to advertise our event, create signage, rent tables and chairs and tents, print our cluebooks, pay for our sound system, and this year, create our phone app! Thank you, sponsors!

The BIG Hint!

And that brings us to our biggest hint! Pay attention to our sponsors; they will be involved in the hunt. Many will be clue locations, and some will be present at the morning check-in and the afternoon finish. There will be random raffle prizes offered by many, so teams should plan to stick around even if they think they could not possibly win a top three spot – you might win train tickets or a free dinner from an area restaurant. The finish area is FUN with free food and activities.

The New Phone App

Our new phone app is co-sponsored by Carolina Orthodontic and Children’s Dentistry with Triangle Family Dental. These practices share space in a building on Carpenter Fire Station Road out in West Cary. They opened their practices about a year ago and are welcoming patients with the latest technology and sedation dentistry. These great folks are making it possible for our teams to use a phone app that will make answering clue questions and uploading photos for our judges a snap.

Hosted By the Town of Cary

The Town of Cary is once again our partner and hosts the event at the Historic Page-Walker Arts & History Center. With help from Kris Carmichael, director of the Page-Walker, and Lyman Collins, Cary’s Cultural Arts manager, CaryCitizen can hold this fun event. They make it possible to set up tents and tables, train our staff and manage the venue during the day.

The event starts with morning check-in on the grounds of this wonderful building, where teams get their t-shirts and clue books before traveling around town. Then teams come back to the beautiful lawn area and sample some food from 10 booths and can win raffle drawings as their scores are tallied.

Our Platinum Sponsors

Great Harvest Bread, Ashworth’s Drugs and Chick-Fil-A Waverly  have all been Platinum sponsors since the original hunt in 2010. NCDOT Rail Division is back, which means a trip to the train depot in Downtown Cary. New this year is Mr. Roof of Raleigh and Orangetheory Fitness with their two Cary and Morrisville locations. Triangle Table Tennis is back moving from a gold sponsorship to platinum and will be at the finish area with a prize to raffle. Atlantic Tire & Service is back and might even raffle off a set of tires to a lucky winner!

Our Gold Sponsors

Gold Sponsors can be clue locations as well, so start learning a little bit about these guys; it can come in handy during the Hunt. Our gold level sponsors include: Cary Family Eye Care (for the fourth year),  The Cary Y (for the fifth year), Dave & Busters, Duck Donuts, The Egg & I, Jumpstreet, The Mayton Inn, Maximillian’s Grill & Wine Bar, Shuckin’ Shack Oyster Bar and Waverly Place.

Booths will Feed and Entertain

Our event is very popular with teams and area businesses. A few years ago we decided to make things more interesting by having booths at the finish that might sample food to our adventurers or offer raffle prizes. We upped our game two years ago by adding booths during the morning and many serve up a light breakfast. Teams will not be required to spend any additional money during their adventure! Pay one team registration price ($50 for family and adult teams of four, $100 for a corporate team) and you are all set for the day. Pricing includes the cluebook, four t-shirts and a full day of fun!

Some of this year’s booths include:

Richards Advantage McDonalds, Famous Toastery, Backyard Bistro, The Mayton Inn, Great Harvest Bread Co., Relay Foods, Whistle Stop Nutrition, Rally Point Sport Grill, Pei Wei and Tribecca Tavern. For the full list of all booths and sponsors, visit the webpage.
