Nature and Art Show Calling Out for Local Artists
Cary, NC – The Friends of Hemlock Bluffs, which have long worked to conserve and protect the Hemlock Bluffs Nature Preserve, are holding their first art show and are looking for creative minds from the community to join in.
Art and Nature
The Friends of Hemlock Bluffs are putting together the Nature Art Show and Sale for Saturday, November 5, 2016. The event will gather vendors from around Cary and the Triangle whose art reflects the beauty that already exists in nature.
“We’re looking for vendors that do art made from natural objects, whether it includes things found in nature or made from recycled materials,” said Laura White, secretary for the Friends of Hemlock Bluffs. “But also any art that captures natures. That can be watercolors of songbirds or paintings of landscapes or even photographs of nature. It’s a wide spectrum of artists.”
White said some interested artists have already applied, with crafts ranging from stained glass to crochet.
Currently, Hemlock Bluffs is looking for vendors for the event. There is table and tent space available with all rental fees going to Hemlock Bluffs’ environmental education projects and programs.
“This isn’t about fundraising. We’re just trying to bring people to a fun family event,” White said. “We’re trying to bring in new people who might not otherwise have come out to Hemlock Bluffs.”
The deadline for vendors is Monday, August 8, 2016.
Calm Venue
Hemlock Bluffs is at 2616 Kildaire Farm Rd. and the 140-acre nature preserve is part of a cooperative effort between North Carolina and Cary.
“It’s a woodland in South Cary that seeks to protect the landscape, preserve the wildlife and educate the public,” White said.
And with the Nature Art Show, White hopes that more people know about the location and come out for some peace and solitude.
“It’s a natural oasis in the hustle-bustle of Cary,” she said. “It’s a place to stop and enjoy nature and take a walk.”
The Friends of Hemlock Bluffs are also looking for volunteers to help out with the event. There will also be food and drinks at this family-friendly art sale.
