Cary, NC – The weather is getting colder as the Halloween decorations come down and the trees start lighting up. It’s a perfect time to look around Cary for some great weekend events.

Dorcas Ministries is having a free breakfast event at 7:30 AM. This is for networking and to hear about the work Dorcas Ministries does. Pre-registration is required.

Cary’s Annual Veterans Luncheon is taking place at the Herb Young Community Center from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM.

The Cary Theater is starting to air a new round of independent movies this week. On Thursday, A Man Called Ove is playing at 2 and 7 PM and concert film Queen: A Night in Bohemia is playing at 9:30 PM.

Veterans

There are two Veterans Day events in Cary. At the Cary YMCA, there will be a flag-raising at 10:50 AM as well as a remembrance event at the Veterans Freedom Park at 11 AM.

The Annandale Center is holding a free Scottish dance at its studio on Faculty Drive. The event is for both experts and newcomers, starting at 4 PM.

Wine Away Friday takes place at the Chatham Hill Winery, with wine for sampling and drinking plus live music. It takes place at 7 PM.

The Cary Unity Walk and Fun Run starts at the intersection of Academy and Chatham Street and stretches out to WakeMed Soccer Park. The goal of this event is to unite people in Cary and foster a peaceful atmosphere and it starts at 6:30 AM.

Local Cary film Malicious Intent II premieres at the Cary Theater this Saturday. The film was made by mostly Cary residents and stars Caryites, playing at 6 PM for free.

The Triangle Wind Ensemble is playing a show of music from famous stories, ranging from West Side Story to the Odyssey. The concert is at the Cary Arts Center and starts at 7:30 PM.

The Triangle Chili Challenge is in downtown Cary and will see some of Cary’s best chefs seeing who can make the best chili. And attendees will be able to taste and vote. It starts at noon.

The Philharmonic Association is organizing a show with the Triangle Youth String Orchestra and Triangle Youth String Sinfonia performing. The show is at the Cary Arts Center and starts at 4 PM.

Beaulojais Wine Festival is a wine event to celebrate Cary’s French sister city, Le Touquet. There will be food, a silent auction, music and more. It takes place at the Mayton Inn at 6 PM.

Around the Triangle

The Carolina Artisan Craft Market is a three-day event from Friday, November 11 to Sunday, November 13, 2016. Artisans from around the state, including Cary, will be at the event selling their handmade art at the Raleigh Convention Center.

The Carolina Collector Auto Fest is all this weekend at the State Fairgrounds. It’s a car show, a swap meet, a car corral and everything else a car lover would love.

NC ComicCon is all this weekend at Durham’s Convention Center. Meet artists, watch panels, shop for rarities and more.
