Guide to New Year’s Eve and 2017 in Cary

Cary, NC – Before you know it, 2016 will be over and 2017 will begin. So to plan out the last day of the year, here’s a guide to the New Year’s Eve events in and around Cary.

Parties

To celebrate the beginning of 2017 with a bang, check out these parties and events all around Cary.

The Mayton Inn in Downtown Cary is holding a masquerade ball with cocktails, dancing, fine dining and a champagne toast at midnight. It starts at 7 PM.

Frank’s CineBowl and Grille in Parkside Town Commons is holding an end-of-the-year bowling party starting at 9 PM. Reserve a lane and get drinks and champagne, plus music by DJ Wade Banner.

Buffaloe Lanes is having a 2017 bowl with a family friendly, no alcohol event. There will be opportunities for prizes and TVs showing the New Year’s Eve events around North Carolina, the U.S. and the world, all starting at 10 PM.

Jellybeans Super Skate Center is having a “Roll the Bean” New Year’s Eve skate with toilet paper to roll at midnight. For ages 15 and younger and the first 100 to sign up get a bag of party favors. It starts at 7 PM.

The Umstead Hotel and Spa in Cary is having three different New Year’s events.

  • Early in the evening, there will be a New Year’s Eve Dinner at Herons with vegetarian and gluten-free options
  • At night, there is a New Year’s Eve Celebration with drinks, dancing and The Soul Psychedelique
  • The next morning, there will be a New Year Brunch starting at 8 AM with food made from local sources

Entertainment

To welcome in the new year with some music and movies, there are a lot of shows around Cary on New Year’s Eve.

The Chinese Lantern Festival at Koka Booth Amphitheater will include a fireworks show at 9:30 PM, with the fireworks included in the regular price of admission.

Fortnight Brewing is having an end of year concert with Anthony and Mariah performing. The concert starts at 10 PM.

Abbey Road Tavern and Grill on West Chatham Street is having a New Year’s Eve concert with Slide performing classic rock. The show starts at 9 PM.

Chef’s Palette Restaurant and Bar on Ten Ten Road will have The Trophy Husbands performing an end of year concert. That show starts at 8:30 PM and goes past midnight into 2017.

Rally Point Sport Grill on Bass Pro Lane will be having a New Year’s Eve bash with DJ B4 performing and playing at 10 PM through midnight.

Mac’s Tavern on Ryan Road is holding a New Year’s Eve event with a Jello Shot toast at midnight and a performance by Outside the Beltline at 9 PM.

Doherty’s Irish Pub on High House Road is holding a special end of the year dinner, with tables up for reservation and DJ George performing at 10 PM, plus a champagne toast at midnight.

The Cary Theater is open on New Year’s Eve, playing recent drama The Vessel at 7 PM and then at 9 PM, just in time for the big countdown, the theater will play one of the greatest movies of the past 55 years, King Kong vs. Godzilla.

Fine Dining

If you would rather spend the holiday in a quieter setting, look into these restaurants in town.

Academy Street Bistro is back open, with a new owner on a newly renovated street. For New Year’s Eve, Academy Street Bistro will stay open until 11 PM.

Maximillian’s is holding a New Year’s Eve dinner, serving food made from locally sources ingredients.

Dean’s Seafood Grill and Bar on Darrington Drive is not holding a special New Year’s Eve dinner but on New Year’s Day, there will be a special brunch buffet with made-to-order omelettes, half-shell oysters, shrimp and more. Reservations are recommended.

Around the Triangle

2017 First Night is the Triangle’s signature New Year’s Eve event in Downtown Raleigh. There will be a number of performances, from the North Carolina Orchestra to bluegrass to rock to stand-up comedy to dancing and much, much more.

Durham’s New Year’s Eve Celebration is at the Durham Convention Center’s Grand Ballroom. There is dancing, food, champagne and music by the Bull City Syndicate.

Morehead Planetarium in Chapel Hill is holding a year’s end Night Lights event with activities, games, refreshments and information about space and science, starting at 2 PM.
