Cary, NC – A short drive from Cary is the East Coast Drag Racing Hall of Fame Weekend in Henderson. All of you car fans should mark your calendars and head over there next weekend.

Drag racing is said to have its origins in California in the late 1930’s. But people were racing souped-up cars all over the country. North Carolina certainly has its own proud tradition of motorsports.

Drag Racing Hall of Fame Weekend

The official name for the festival is the 10th Annual East Coast Drag Times Hall of Fame Weekend.

The event is sponsored by the Vance County Tourism Department.

Friday, October 14

1:00 pm – 6:00 pm

Southern Style Barbecue Cookout for Show, Shine, Shag & Dine and East Coast Drag Times Hall of Fame guest. $4.00 Cover Charge

Saturday, October 15

7:30 am – 4:30 pm

Legendary drag racers, antique & classic car collectors, writers, photographer’s, track operators and fans reunite for a weekend full of cruising, bench racing, scrapbook viewing and a trip down memory lane. Show location: Garnett St., Historic Downtown Henderson, NC.

Sunday, October 16

10:00 am – 12:30 pm
East Coast Drag Times Hall of Fame & Reunion participated in the sport of drag Racing in the ‘50’s ‘60’s & ‘70’s. Admission: Free
Drag cars displayed, scrapbook viewing, bench racing & autograph signing.

12:30 pm – 3:00 pm
East Coast Drag Times Hall of Fame induction ceremony and awards presentation. Master of Ceremony, Bret Kepner
