Cary, NC – Here’s something unusual: Garden Supply Company in Cary is offering a workshop this Saturday for people who want to grow their own shiitake mushrooms.
Shiitake Mushroom Workshop
This Saturday, June 16th at 9:00 am, Garden Supply Company will host a workshop on “Growing Shiitake Mushrooms”.
This is a “hands-on” workshop led by Nick Fox and Rob Jones of Woodfruit Farm. Participants will learn how-to innoculate logs and care for them.
Registration is $85 and everyone will leave with 3-4 logs made during the workshop. Just imagine having fresh shiitake mushrooms for you and your family for years to come. Contact Garden Supply at (919) 460-7747 to reserve your space.
Shiitake or Shitake?
Most websites list the proper spelling as shiitake.
But Merriam-Webster lists shitake as an acceptable variant.
If people tell you that you can’t spell, tell them they don’t know shitake.
Shiitake Recipe Ideas
Shiitake mushrooms can be used in any recipe that calls for white mushrooms.
Tasty pairings include Shiitake and Wild Rice Pilaf, Scallops and Shiitake and Shiitake Mushrooms and Angel Hair Pasta.
