St. Jude’s Walk-a-Thon

Morrisville, NC – S.A.S Helping Hearts consist of a small team of middle and elementary-age students who express their gratitude by helping sick children through organizing annual fund raisers for various children’s hospitals. Last year, their first event was for Duke University Children’s Hospital and included a yard sale which raised almost three thousand dollars. This year’s goal plans to double that amount, and the proceeds will go to St. Jude Hospital.

St. Jude has provided health care for children battling cancer since 1962.

This year’s event takes place on July 15, 2012 at 8:00 a.m. at Morrisville Community Park and promises an eventful day that will include a walkathon, various booths, a live band, bake sale, jump house, Face painting, henna and much more. All the proceeds from the walk-a-thon will go directly to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital to find cures for children with cancer and other life- threatening diseases through research and treatment; and no family ever pays St. Jude for anything.

North Carolina communities and public officials are welcome to participate in the event. And S.A.S Helping Hearts is expecting a great turnout that will include the Mayor of Cary along with hundreds of people. The event will kick off with the walkathon of 2 miles and immediately following the attendees will have the opportunity to return to the Morrisville Community Park to enjoy food, music, art jump house, face painting, henna and the raffle drawing.

A Growing Organization. Maybe a Movement.

S.A.S. (Supporting America’s Sick kids) was the vision of three friends whose goal was to develop creative events that would help and support sick children from around the globe.

This is the second annual event and within a year the organization has grown from three to more than 40 volunteers. And because the number of members has doubled the amount of funds that the organization will raise has also increased. Last year, we raised $3,000.00 and this year prior to the event, we have exceeded that amount. With hard work, dedication, and collaboration, our goal is to host creative fundraising events every year and with each successful event, the amount of funds that is raised will increase as we continue to pay back to our community.
