Two Week Music Festival Returns to Downtown Cary
Cary, NC- Hard to believe, but in the Cary Cross Chamber Music and Art Festival’s second year in Downtown Cary, there’s even more events and artistic collaborations!
The festival takes place over two weeks beginning July 30 and all concerts will be performed at the Cary Arts Center.
Over the course of two weeks events include: 12 concerts, 8 open-to-the- public rehearsals, 2 art exhibits and 3 post concert dinners.
Partnerships
Carrie Knowles, festival director, prides herself on creating partnerships between the community and the music of the festival. One such expanded partnership was worked out with Clare Sifford of Cary Visual Arts (CVA) this summer. Two art shows, will combine an evening of art with a themed concert.
The Quartets juried exhibit received 80 applicants for consideration. Carrie is very excited for the reception which will take place on August 4 in Principal’s Hall in the Cary Arts Center. Music will feature the Lipkind Quartet and the Brussels Chamber Orchestra at 7:30.
The second art partnership is the annual CVA Outdoor Sculpture Exhibit. A ticketed Gala reception is scheduled for Saturday August 10 at the Page Walker Hotel from 5-8pm. Patrons can ride trams along Academy Street to view all the sculptures. To complete the evening, the Arts Center hosts a concert featuring the Brussels Chamber Orchestra with soloists from the NC Opera. One soloist, Anthony Roth Costanzo recently won the Operalia competition. Each event requires a ticket, or can be purchased together.

Other partnerships have been forged with Downtown Cary restaurants who will have special post-concerts evenings planned for patrons bearing their tickets. These dinners will include a chance to mingle with the musicians after each show and were extremely popular during last year’s festival.

Sunday August 5
- After the 3pm afternoon concert of Brussels Chamber Orchestra playing with members of the NC Symphony.

- Your concert ticket entitles you to 10% off your total bill this evening, except for alcoholic beverages.

Monday August 6
- The Matthews House, 317 West Chatham Street in conjuction with Triangle Food Tour
- Diners will meet and dine with members of the Brussels Chamber Orchestra.
- Prix Fixe dinner $25 per person includes tax & gratuity
- May also purchase a dinner for one of the musicians and receive a free ticket to one of the performances

Thursday Aug 9
- After the 7:30 pm New Music Raleigh Concert which also includes members of the NC Symphony.
- Havana Grill, at 404 West Chatham Street.
- The restaurant is offering a $12 special, comprised of one entrée, two side orders and a glass of wine or homemade sangria. Must present your concert ticket for this special.

Saturday Aug 11
- After the final festival concert of the Brussels Chamber Orchestra.
- Maximillians at 8314 Chapel Hill Road.

Cross Currents Jazz
The newest twist on the festival is the inclusion this year of jazz, an evening concert by Will Scruggs Jazz Fellowship opens the festival on July 30. The group is part of the expansion of the student side-by-side learning experience. Students can learn jazz from the Jazz Fellowship, and chamber music from teh BCO during the first week of the festival. Both student groups will perform during a special Side By Side concert August 3.
