Western Wake Artists’ Studio Tour This Weekend

Wake County, NC – Have you ever visited an artist at work? Every November area artists open their studios to curious art lovers with the annual Western Wake Artists’ Studio Tour, this year its held from Nov. 9-11, 2012.

Western Wake Studio Tour

Meet the artists in your neighborhood, as studios in Apex, Cary, Fuquay Varina, Holly Springs, and Willow Spring open their doors to the public for a free, self-guided tour.

Here’s your chance to meet artists and see the work in studios across Western Wake County. From painting on silk to photography and oils, these many artists represent a full range of creative media.

“I enjoy sharing my work because it strikes up conversations about the uniqueness of creativity. I get to share what inspires me. But what I enjoy most is to hear others tell their story about what inspires them to be creative,” says participating artist Ana Sumner.

In its fourth year, the Western Wake Artists’ Studio Tour promotes education, appreciation, and awareness of professional art and artists located in Western Wake County through interactive opportunities.

Be sure to check which studios are open Friday evening as only about one half will be open that night.

    Thank you for featuring my painting in this article! There are 17 other talented artists to visit on the Tour and it’s going to be a beautiful weather, so what a great way to spend a weekend! Look out for the WWAST signs (similar to the one in the 2nd photo) on the road and in front of each artist’s studio.

    I’ll be doing silk painting and scarf-tying demos throughout the weekend. Several other artists will also be demonstrating their process, so it’s a great opportunity for you to peek inside our world!

    Your featured photo is from one of my favorite local artists, Deborah Young. She paints on silk- for framing and for wearing. She also makes prints of the silks–we have several in our home. It was fascinating to watch how she worked.
    This is such an amazing event- and an opportunity to purchase local, beautiful products.
