Cary, NC – Is Thanksgiving really next week? It doesn’t seem possible. Maybe it’s the calm before the tempest, but, this weekend’s highlight event is shredding. As in document shredding.

On the Calendar, we noticed a spa grand opening. The new establishment is called Nirvelli and they are  offering first-come first-serve complimentary services including “Chair massage, Acupuncture, Adjustments, Paraffin dips, Waxing, and more.” Doesn’t that sound relaxing? Nirvelli Day Spa, 151 Quarrystone Circle Suite 116, Cary, NC 27519. Also Thursday: Free Bone Density Screening at the YMCA, Cary Photographic Artists monthly meeting and a dozen other happenings.

Friday offers Wine & Painting at Chatham Hill Winery and a free piano recital at Cary Arts featuring Andrew Willis, a noted faculty member of the School of Music, Theatre and Dance at The University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Info on the Calendar.

And now, the event we’ve all been waiting for: Document Shredding!

Hey, this is serious. Don’t you have boxes of sensitive financial documents that are out of date? It would not be wise to just throw them in the trash.

This Saturday, Town of Cary has your answer. At least, three boxes worth. From ToC: “In celebration of America Recycles Day the Town hosts their annual Paper Shred Event, Citizens may bring up to 3 boxes of paper for free, secure, onsite shredding.” Garmon Operations Center, 400 James Jackson Ave., Cary, 9 AM – 1 PM.

Also Saturday, Truck Day at Bright Horizons (this sounds like fun), a dedication to Revolutionary War Patriot Nathaniel Jones of Cary and a Holiday Fair at Cary Senior Center.

The Concert Singers of Cary Chamber and Symphonic Choirs feature works by notable American composers such as Samuel Barber, Dominic Argento, Libby Larsen and John Corigliano that utilize poetry by Henry David Thoreau, E.E. Cummings, James Agee and Louise Bogan. The performance on Sunday includes music that connects to landscapes and nature along with projected images and supported by a Chamber orchestra. 3-5 PM, Cary Arts Center. Info on the Calendar.
