Musical Instrument Makers – All month, Wake County Public Libraries have been highlighting musical instruments. On Thursday, you can meet local artisans who craft handmade musical instruments at Eva Perry Library just across NC 64 in Apex. 5-6 PM, reservation requested.

Town Council Meeting – Understand the issues and get involved with local government. The regularly scheduled meeting of Cary Town Council is this Thursday evening starting at 6:30 in Town Hall. The meeting is open to the public and you can just pull up a seat in the spacious and comfortable theater-style Council Chambers.

Our Friday shout-out for this week is the Cary Art Loop.

It’s a whole new Art Loop with C-Tran hop-on/hop-off transportation downtown, more galleries and more artwork.

This month, there is Emulating Old Masters at the Cary Senior Center, Cary Photographic Artists Members Show at Cary Arts Center, Paulete Wright at Chatham Hill Winery, two shows at Page-Walker and much, much more.

Saturday is the usual madness in Cary, with more events than a person can possibly cover. But we’ll highlight just a few:

Panther Creek Invitational – 6th annual marching band competition. Over 1000 students from 12 schools will be competing for the coveted PCI trophy. Gates open at 2 pm. More info on the Calendar.

RailHawks vs Ft. Lauderdale – The ‘Hawks take on the Strikers on Saturday night at Wake Med Soccer Park in Cary. Currently in 3rd place in league standings, Carolina needs to make up some points with a win against Ft. Lauderdale. It should be a beautiful night for the beautiful game.

Maze at Koka Booth – Willie Nelson, Alabama Shakes, Robert Plant – it’s been a good season at Booth Amphitheatre. Add to that Maze, the iconic soul / quiet storm band that’s been rocking the airwaves since 1977. Quiet storm is a genre of slow, soulful jams you might hear on late night radio. Frankie Beverly and Maze have been at it for 30 years, and they’re sure to lay down some sensual vibes on Saturday night in Cary. Get a bottle of wine.

More Weekend in Cary

Nunsense is playing all weekend at Cary Arts Center. There’s a 5k on Saturday and a family Triathlon on Sunday. Don’t forget the Dharma and Yoga Fest at the Hindu Society in Morrisville.
