Outfit typifies the season with chunky sweater by Velvet and feminine lace dress Darling Clothes

Cary, NC- Fall fashion was looking exciting as Peachy Keen hosted their Casino themed Fall Fashion show this past Wednesday October 9, 2013 in their store in the Harrison Pointe Shopping Center.

Fall Fashion Show

The Hankin family owns the business that has been bringing Cary some better names in fashion for over a year.  At the start of each season, the merchandiser, Karly, and her family throw an invitation-only fashion show, inviting local press and loyal customers. Last weeks’ theme was Casino Night, complete with dice games, cards, poker chips and plenty of sponsored door prizes. Everyone came away a winner!

Lace Everywhere

Lace – It’s not just for Spring and summer anymore. You could almost say that lace has become a seasonless basic.

There were tops, dresses, skirts and inserts on everything in-between.  This season, lace is updated when combined  with chunky granny sweaters, like the top photo, or layered over another piece to give added dimension to a top like the black crochet piece above.

Year of the Dress

Dresses galore filled the runway and short was the main length as evidenced by all the well-toned legs of every model. When the look got long, it was dramatic with bias cut hankerchief hems and a swingy style.

When there were pants, they were tight and tailored, and the denim was dark washed or colored.

My Boyfriend (Jacket)’s Back

The shrunken boyfriend jacket, worn with shorts, here, could be layered over a dress, jeans or tailored pants for an instant update from a casual to business look. Faux leather is coming on strong- the shorts above are a more cutting-edge (for Cary) example, but faux leather accents were seen to give an edge to jeans or tops and accents and dresses.

Sheer Continues

Tribal prints were still in, but not as abundant as last fall. The sheer sleeves on this dress, update the tribal look. Sheer continues to be a strong accent as the customer is now used to layering camis under sheer tops.  Many dresses have built in slips and long sheer overlays over shorter slip dress layers underneath.

Brights as Accents

The colors aren’t as bright as this past spring. As you see in the photos, not a lot of bright colors on this fall’s runway- and when you did see a bright hue, it was an accent- red pants, a teal top. Lots of grey, black and white dominated.

Things looked salable and season-spanning- which is good in our climate. Although the temps have finally dipped into the 60’s- they could bounce back to 80’s any time in October and lighter weight fabrics worked in layers are always great for the Cary market.
