Cary, NC – Look in your medicine cabinet, chances are you have old medications that are partially used and most likely expired. Dispose of them safely this weekend through the Town of Cary’s Operation Medicine Drop event.

Operation Medicine Drop

Bottle up prescription, over-the-counter and expired medications for proper disposal at the Town of Cary’s biannual Operation Medicine Drop, October 26 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. At four sites throughout Cary, law enforcement officers will help citizens dispose of medications in a safe and secure way, plus answer poison control questions.

“By providing a safe, legal and secure way to get rid of unwanted medications, Operation Medicine Drop helps to prevent accidental poisonings and drug abuse,” said Sgt. Shawn Anderson. Anderson added that the spring 2013 collection garnered over 67,150 pills for safe ad proper disposal.

Operation Medicine Drop is an initiative by the North Carolina Department of Insurance, the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, SafeKids North Carolina, the Drug Enforcement Administration and Riverkeepers of North Carolina.
