Cary, NC — Durham and Raleigh have them. Now Cary is joining the coworking movement with the opening of Oakhaven Coworking. The new facility is having an open house on Friday, December 13, 2013 from 5-8 PM.

Coworking Explained

Coworking is a growing movement among telecommuters, freelancers, writers, hackers and startups.

It’s a low-cost place to work with desks, power, wi-fi and an ever-changing community of independents and entrepreneurs.

Coworking in the Triangle

In the Triangle, you may have heard of the American Underground and Bull City Coworking in Durham or HQ Raleigh, all of which have very successful coworking facilities located in walkable urban areas.

Oakhaven Coworking will be the first such facility in Cary, and the one of the first anywhere in a suburban setting.

The new facility is 1700 square feet and offers 24/7 electronic access, wi-fi, security cameras, pet-friendly, coffee, conference room, kitchen and parking.

“telecommuters, freelancers, writers, HACKERS and startups” all sharing the same WiFi. I’m not sure that I would want to do that.

Hackers are not all malicious, my friend. Just about all developers are hackers. They are the people you want sitting next to you when something goes wrong with your website.

Civic hackers are already at work in Cary helping our town government and bringing cool apps to our citizens. Code for Cary formed early this year and is part of the nationally recognized Code for America Brigade program.

Like several other professions, you want the best hackers on your side…
