January Weekend in Cary

january-weekend-2

Cary, NC — This January weekend in Cary has a number of bright spots. And, a look at the almanac tells us that the days are getting brighter.

January Weekend in Cary

The Northern hemisphere began edging back into the sunlight on December 22, but very slowly (just +1 second more of sunlight). But that pace accelerates through the month of January. This Friday, January 17, 2014 will see +1:01 more sunlight than the previous day.

Next week, we pass 10 hours of daylight. The daffodils will start pushing up and the crocuses will welcome the Spring.

Town Council Meeting

If health care is giving you the blues, we’ve got the remedy. One of our favorite local bands, A Fifth of Blues, will be back at Doherty’s on Friday night. High-energy, good-time roadhouse music to shake off that January funk.

Winter Wonderland at Bond Park – Postponed

[Editor’s Note: Following composition of this story, we received notice that Town of Cary is postponing Winter Wonderland at Bond Park until the end of the month. From ToC via email: “It may be cold enough for snow, but this weekend’s rainy forecast has forced the Town of Cary to postpone its annual Winter Wonderland at Bond Park, a series of one-hour sledding opportunities for kids and adults. The event will be held weather permitting on January 24-25 and follow the same schedule. Those registered for the event do not need to take any action. A very limited number of spots remain open; for fees and available sessions, register by searching “EZ-REG” at www.townofcary.org.]
