Pegasus Relays Return to Cary Academy
Cary, NC- On March 8, 2014 the Pegasus Relays came back to Cary Academy, marking the return of a track & field event that originated in 2004 but has not been held since 2006.
Pegasus Relays Return
Alisa Wright Colopy, owner of Fit & Able Productions, who produced the event, is a former track coach at Cary Academy and ran the event when she coached there. After a seven year hiatus the relays returned to Cary Academy as a part of Fit & Able Production’s Cary Games event series.
Sanctioned Meet
The meet was sanctioned by USA Track & Field and boasted over twenty events: both the traditional Olympic track events, Medley Relays and field events plus a few fun field-day events such as a pizza box relay.
Colopy stated, “Staging the Pegasus Relays again after so many years, we were incredibly pleased with the turnout we had today. It was especially nice to see athletes today, now all grown up, who had participated in the first Relays when they were in high school. Some even brought their own young kids to join in the games.”
The Cary Games
The Pegasus Relays Track & Field Meet was revived as part of the newly-launched Cary Games Series. The Cary Games is an initiative produced by Fit & Able Productions, Inc. to build a healthier community by forming stronger relationships between the Town of Cary, the many world-class athletic venues, and the people of Cary. The Pegasus Relays, like all Fit & Able events, was a recreational meet with hand timing and volunteer officials.
”The Cary Games is our most ambitious effort to bring these three parties together in fun and fit ways. It is a great opportunity for Cary’s citizens to experience their home town in new ways and for the Town to engage more with them in return…Our goal for all our events is to get people moving and to expose them to new fitness activities,” stated Alisa.
